PantunDuring the Pesta Pantun taklimat yesterday, me and mukmin spent about 1/2 hr 2 come up with our own 'pantun pusaka' hahahhaa semangat katekan...well here goes
Sinaran cahaya, aluan suara,
Dendangan lagu, irama syahdu.
Berbudi bahasa, saling mesra,
Kawan bagaikan isi dan kuku.
Rindu di hati merentas masa,
Impian harapan tetap membara.
Wahai kawan jangan gelisah,
Susah senang, tetap bersama.
Fuyooooo power eh!!! hahaha kalo kite masok comp, confem kalah...peh lambat nak berpantun =p
Anyway, Hakim called me earlier...he was realli realli sick and tired and pissed and God knows what else regarding the nite cycling expedition he was organizing. Both of us kinda agreed that there is a lack of professionalism and loads of politics. Just like in my earlier posting, i really feel that its not worth my effort to try to change things coz it never will change. of coz im in no position to comment, but some things are wad u say soooo 'ketara' .
After that, i talked to my mum and she's kinda disappointed that so far, i haven realli been involved in the actual organizing of events - i've been doing personal favours and helping in wad she called menial jobs like carrying tables and the logistical stuff. dun get me wrong pple...i do it dengan ikhlas hati =) coz i seriously dont see the point of organizing and coming across all the problems u guys r facing and wad im currently facing. maybe perhaps, its time for me to move on instead of harping on intending to help and improve the current way of doing things. I guess dats juz the Malay mentality of not accepting criticisms or 'buat asal boleh' or failing to recognise the efforts of the minority. You can sae im totally wrong, but having gone thru the past few events, im pretty sure of the similarities and trends...

Deviance and Crime
juz sharing something i learnt in my interesting deviance lecture tadi ptg (so totally la....haha) our lecturer introduced this concept of Panopticon coined by Jeremy Bentham. its an architectural fascination whereby individuals internalize self-control and discipline due to the fact that there is a power of seeing without being seen. basically, this concept was used in a social control instituition ie the prison whereby inmates are imparted wif the knowledge that they are constantly being observed and hence exercise self-discrestion. in the context of the modern world...this concept is utilised in the existence of gadgets like the CCTV...monitoring individual's movements in an attempt to prevent crime / terrorism(more so after 911 and the London bombing)
ok, in relation to this, we can use the Panopticon concept in the religious context. as we all know, God is all-knowing and all-seeing. based on this knowledge, we as individual human beings are in fact unconsciously exercising self-control and self-policing in the things we do as we hold dear our basic tenets of our religion ie behaving within the boundaries of our religious norms and are aware of the punishments or being labelled if we cross over the envisioned lines.

10 things i hate about you
I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all. -Kat Stretford-diden have anything blog-worthy to blog...so there haha one of my all-time favourite movies. im kinda sucker for romantic-comedy-sappy movies. well hey, these things never actually happen in real life coz relationships r by fact so utterly complex. Sometimes romantic stuff dat u do often go unnoticed (cmon...if u actually quote the above mentioned lines, do u think a gal will go boo-hoo? haha) if you had your life a romantic dream, then perhaps it wont be so exciting/crestfalling/pasrah-ing/happening as it is now, right? =p

Emotionsfrankly, i was rather pissed (ok lets use a better word, frust) about the whole CS3 thing...mainly because the budget was kinda abyssmal. the fact that they were willing to compromise the trophies for hampers as prizes in other to keep within the 'means' and that the previous 2 years actually gave out plastic trophies to winners even though the registration fees were high. Of coz dey also managed to secure sponsorship deals and some cash prizes dat were given to the winners. Budden, to me, its a matter of pride and communicating wif participants and that there shdnt be a compromise of professionalism and imagery of the society for the sake of profit or loss.
apparently, my fren said that dats an idealist view....and there should be a balance between realism and idealism. my guess....i shdnt be feeling angst and shd juz enjoy myself with frenz and getting to noe more pple (galz :p) ohh ohh for some reason, i do feel dat i've been backstabbing coz of the fact that i complain to others and implying the lack of efficiency on the part of the committee....ahhh

Marketing
dunno y i suddenly so semangat, i followed the Pesta Pantun pple 2 do some marketing (dats wad dey call it la, padahal begging for money ;p) tadi kat bugis and geylang. we came across dis office SGM and mistook it for a subsidiary of KGMS. apparently, it was a financial firm catered for guru2 melayu in spore. anway, it was one eye-opening experience coz we were directly ushered into a boardroom for a meeting wif the manager and his secretary. Wan, Zahzah, Maly and Nadia actually did a great job in presenting Pesta Pantun and explaining the need for financial sponsorship and its likely we'll get dat financial sponsorship. but i guess there is still a need to brush up in 'selling' and being more aggresive in answerin the 'what's in it for them' question. certain lessons learnt from dis:
1) Effective presentation and how u portray urself and ur organisation will put u in a good stead
2) Knowledge of the background of the company ure trying to woo...actually we had no idea wad SGM did. the manager was kind enuff to explain and based on what was learnt, the PP committee put forward a strong impromptu marketing strategy where SGM could use PP as a platform for a potential market and promote its services
3) Come up with a better selling point rather than the normal 'putting ur logo on our posters/website'
ohhh...after dat, me managed 2 secure two more sponsorships in the form of food and books. how cool is dat? hehehe so fun!

Trends...
I read in The 100 Best Trends in 2005, one trend particularly caught my attention - The Age of Asymmetrical Warfare. haha u guys would probably be going ???? haha =p juz sharing only lar...well wads so unique is dat it is taking the world by storm as the 4th Generation warfare and largely affecting the powerful First World countries. Asymmetrical imply the use unconventional tactics as compared to current technology-based attacks...exemplified in the recent terror attacks like 9/11, British Bomb Blast, Madrid Train Attack etc the use of such tactics greatly influence foreign politics and pre-empt aggressive policy making in the name of 'world peace' (haha by invading iraq, attacking afghanistan on the pretext of hunting down Al-Qaeda, influencing the prominent use of UN sanctions) well...with 4GW likely to stay, expect more invasions, terror attacks and subsequent retaliations in the coming years
on a side track, i had a great midnite supper wif the guys at Al-ameen smlm hahaha and guess wads the topic of the night? GALS hahahhaha it seems that there is this constant pre-occupation with girls when a grp of guys come together 2 lepak2 hahaha perhaps gals r so pervasive (woohoo!) in our lives =p

Relationships - a complex mould of interpersonal emotions
i seriously diden expect to like update my blog daily hahaha but oh well sch's juz a week old and no pressure yet whatsoever =p ok anyway, perhaps i got my answer to my question in my prev posting...rhetorical huh? haha i guess not expressing ur feelings to ur 'other half' kinda serves as a self-defence function (not martial arts self-defence but emotional defence). by not expressing urself, u get to treat him/her as a real close fren and not get hurt in the face of rejection or the 'never-gonna-be-the-same-again-kind-of-friendship...maybe this self-defence thingy does work oni dat both of u will never try and will never know how u feel for each other...(dat sux)
it goes to show that relationships be it platonic, does spark a flame of emotion yet moulds a simple situation into one dat is complex and unpredictable. the risk will be there...depends on whether u wanna try or remain in the comfort zone of that special bond both share...

Platonic friendship...fact or fiction?
i've always wondered about close friendships between mars and venus. Closeness and emotional attachment often result in developing feelings for the other party. The fact that expressing your feelings towards the other party for some reason always end up affecting the friendship shared. i was talking to nurul the other day and she mentioned that there is a 50-50 chance of either making it and taking it to another level, or it just breaks ie. moving away from each other and losing that closeness. but what's certain, is dat it won't be normal again...
scenario 1: close frens for x years...he tells her he likes her...she doesnt reciprocate...it juz dissolves
scenario 2: close frens for x years...he misinterprets her actions...but she just treats him like a brother...nothing more
scenario 3: close frens for x years...like each other...afraid to tell for fear of affecting the friendship...nuthin happens
So...does it pay to express ur feelings to ur close close fren (its bound to happen u noe) and risk it all? what's ur take???

9:43 PM
A week has passed since I returned form Projek 3J Jr. No doubt i enjoyed myself thoroughly wif ma frenz (talking cock, giving lame jokes, cam-whoring haha) lots have been learnt especially during the 3 days at Rebutia while jungle trekking and cold-cold night walks.
1) I ain't no leader
2) I am unable to make fast and effective decisions without first falling back on group members
3) I ain't an outdoor/jungle person...like so totally lah.....(no wonder i went to police haha)
4) Definitely a team player
5) Taking for granted the concept of syukur and remembering Him
6) The importance of team spirit in attempting to move away from your comfort zone
7) The need to use knowledge as guidance and not being selfish to share wif others wad u know
8) Swallow pride and effect discussions when faced with uncertainty (bersyura')
9) Developing spiritual consciousness as a means of guidance and confronting fear
10) Gain support and establish rapport with others and society in building a successful organisation
Guess this is juz a summary of what i've learnt there heh...it sure was an eye-opening experience! (although technically, there is a limit to how big my eyes can open haha :p)
Some pictures from the trip...
*in da bus on the way to Selangor*
*Baru habis trekking hahaha*
