Exam Ramblings
Im currently doing social theory haha...u noe....the things said by Durkheim, Marx and Weber on the contradictions of modernity. I shant bore u all with these things la....asik kene complain jek - 'eh y ur blog so wordy and so chim...tk paham' hahahaha
So i juz wanna share wad i got from Jannah's blog...abt wad she learnt being studying part time and working full time...woah! hehehe

1. It’s best to be two weeks ahead in your readings. One week just won’t do when you’re studying part-time. When it gets busy at work, you’ll be falling behind before you know it.

2. Study smart. When you’re new to a field of study (like I am to business), there’s no way you’ll be able to know every single topic well. It takes more time than the mere six weeks you spend on each module. For the exams, concentrate on the learning objectives of the module. But for the long run, you should understand (not necessarily remember) & know how to apply everything you learnt in that module.

3. Revise regularly. This is the only way to make the knowledge stay in your long-term memory. Unfortunately, this is also the thing that is hardest to do, for me. In between erratic work hours & attending classes, there’s barely any time left for assignments & projects, what more revision! This point will be on my to-do list next semester.

4. Love what you learn & use the knowledge in your job whenever possible. This is the beauty of pursuing career & studies at the same time. Knowledge from both aspects of your life will mould & make more sense than ever. It’s amazing, really.

5. Sometimes you just have to put work aside for school. Working supports my family & pays for school, but it’s okay to push it down the list of priorities during those times when you’re stretched really thin. Just make sure you maintain consistent performance on your job; school is not an excuse to produce substandard results at work.

6. Even Superwomen need their parents’ support. Even though they, like everyone else, may not fully understand the struggles I go through trying to juggle work & studies, their unconditional support is priceless. They never tell me so, for fear I might get big-headed (haha), but I know they are proud of what I am doing. 부모님, 고맙습니다. 그리고 사랑함니다.

Penjajah vs Melayu

Bowling is a place for 'kalah tkpe, style mau ade' haha but den, we made so much noise eventho there were only 4 of us (plus satu budak ni entah mane tibe2 join) Team Penjajah: Belle and Peter defeated Team Melayu: Hang Tuah and Melur twice in a row! haha oh well...its a great break....laughter and keselenge-an terserlah :p and now its time to mug and mug i.e. Project NERD!
Anyway, just wanna share something that i feel we should all aspire to do. Don't ever underestimate anybody...u'd never know who he or she is capable or may help you on a rainy day (maybe dier kasi payung :p) If there was one great lesson i learnt from Hakim, dis is it hehehehe be humble and be friendly to all those whom u think don't matter....be it the makcik kat library or the abg computer guy or the nyonya sapu lantai or even the macs counter staff...u'd never noe that he or she may have some reasons for the things he or she do...and sometimes, it can be touching and heart warming.
Never underestimate....and yeah....smile always. Be a tigger! :D

Rainbows, Flowers and Care Bears!

Remember when shit happens and somebody gotta clean it up? Well one way you could do it is....u see a pile of shit on the floor, you just cover it up with newspaper, so dat it doesnt look disgusting along the corridor. So everyone is happi....den you get rainbows, flowers and care bears! But den, what if shit happens again? then you cover up with another set of newspapers...until wen will u keep having layers and layers of newspaper without actually cleaning up the mess that is actually there?

Or...lets sae you're on the 1st shift and ur other cleaning partner is on the second shift. When shit happens, the one on the 2nd shift refuses to clean the shit up, eventho it occured during his shift. So coz ure in the 1st shift...u juz do it, rather then leave it ard, just to make the other person happy. Rainbows, flowers and care bears! Den one day, u decide that enuff is enuff....so the shit continues to grow and both u and ur cleaning partner refuses to clean it up. It gets so bad dat the management fires the both of you....so sad...no more rainbows, flowers or care bears

But....catching up with frens, old or new...it is always rainbows, flowers and care bears :) because you enjoy their company, and so do they :) i will upload the pics of allllll my jalan raya (4 in all) soon! hehe thanks for the wonderful company dis raya...NUS Silat, Library Gang, K2P and Kambing2 NY woohoo! u all rock my socks la...totally!

The Art of Giving

I think today's experience at Chen Su Lan Methodist Children's home was an enriching one. No doubt i tink i almost lost my voice or feel super duper tired chasing the kids ard! Me, ibrahim, zola and shaza were there to conduct a silat workshop...but halfway into the whole programme, our 'music room' (the place where we were 'teaching' silat) became a childcare centre! one corner, some kids were playing monopoly, another side playing skipping ropes, some who were learning regu and some other boys who diden wan 2 go for cooking, but wanted 2 learn more silat stuff from us! haha it was soooooooo penat to layan dorang, pick dem away from beating each other up, listen 2 their screams, asking dem to stop jumping and climbing ard, getting kicked and punched and most importantly, trying to get their attention. But i do realize that the environment they grow up in is gonna make dem realli tough. They use expletives like nobody's business and fight each other. It is realli true dat the family IS the basic unit of socialization. I felt really sad for dem, and i do wish dat our presence had an impact on dem someway or another...silat was to teach dem self-confidence, not get bullied by others and humility :)
