For You, A Thousand Times Over

I think that Kite Runner is a wonderful book. It is full of wit, philosophical inclinations and seeks to understand the goodness of human nature (and the bad of course). Sadness coupled with themes of love, loyalty, revenge, jealousy, guilt and redemption makes it so engaging...i finished the book in 3 days! haha but wad i enjoyed the most was the irony, cliches and interchanging of words that provided such different meanings. I am a believer of words...be it written or spoken. I feel that words are more powerful than actions because they carry with them meanings and intentions. Anyway, there were two phrases of such nature that are my fav:

It wasn't meant to be...or was it meant not to be?

Took him out of the certainty of turmoil but placed him in the turmoil of uncertainty

I thought that they were beautifully phrased :). Before i forget or loose that sms, i thought i would share wad Maly shared with me about this book called 'The secret'

1) If you see it in your mind, you're gonna hold it in your hands.
2) Our feelings let us know what we are thinking.
3) The universe likes speed. Dont delay. Dont second guess. Dont doubt. When the opportunity is there, when the impulse is there, when the intuitive nudge from within is there, act. Thats your job. And thats all u have to do.
4) Unless u fill yourself up 1st, you have nothing to give anybody. thereforew it is imperative that you tend to YOU 1st. Attend to your joy 1st. People are responsible for their own joy.

Distributing Daging Korban

I have like a whole storage of stories abt pple being amazed looking at me haha all the funni2 reactions once recollected always i think, is a bag of laughs. Like how the makcik canteen at engine who initially refused to believe i was Malay

"Cik, nasi makan. (You want rice? Eat here?). Ahhh letak ayam kicap. (Chicken with soy sauce?). Sayur kobis ngan telur..(Vegetable and fried egg). Brape cik? ($2)''.....and den my fren will say, "cik dier melayu lah!"and den it will dawn upon her...."Melayu? lahhh cik ingat dier cine.....patutlah bole cakap melayu!"

and of coz i wasnt spared any different treatment as i made my rounds to distribute daging korban haha my dad drove, while i navigated and den went to the houses to give the daging and letter etc. So, i went to this house, the door was open and some of the house occupants saw me...i said 'Assalamualaikum..." and den i heard "whispers"..."ade budak cine kat luar...yah, baik2 eh entah ape dier nak". And mcm biase kasi muke selamba...i juz said i was from jamiyah nak kasi daging korban. den..."lar, Melayu....cik ingat cine mane tah tadi....terima kasih eh nak eh..."

OR another one....belom sempat beri salam, dis guy was shouting to his mum, "Ma, ma ade order ape2 ker? Ni ade budak cine kat luar"

The other time i was helping my fren do a 'race' interview with my dad, i asked if my dad would declare his race/identity? and he said no he would not. But i beg to differ. Wen dealing with Malays, proclaiming dat u are a Malay will result in a reciprocation of goodwill, respect and much much better treatment. So if someone asks if im malay or chi...i'd just say both, campur la...ape nak buat...haha

Just think

The strange thing about us is that we always think in retrospect. We reflect on what we could have done to prevent something or what we could have improved on to ensure things dont go awry or sad. We realize that the signs were staring straight at us but did not see them until everything's over. Maybe that's how life works. If we were to know how it would turn out, then maybe it would repel the wonder of it all....

And then it comes to the issue of fate or coincidence. it becomes more heart wrenching if everythin coincidental, we tie it or attribute it to fate. the fact that you HAPPEN not to work this weekend, the fact you HAPPEN to go to work late. The fact that you changed plans at the last minute...and you realize the whole pattern that gears us together to that one particular, significant event..

Life is full of surprises, be it happy or sad, good or bad. We have to take it with a pinch of salt as it goes along...and most of all, remember our devotion to Him.

I learnt something over the weekend from my dad. He told us that there are 5 types of love...in order of importance.

1) Love for Allah
2) Love for both our parents
3) Love for what we do
4) Love in seeking knowledge
5) Love for our partner

We have to realize that we put so much emphasis on our relationships (BGR/spouse) that when it turns out not the way we expect it, we feel crushed and that life is unfair and maybe...its not worth living. But we forget that we still have for more 'loves' with us and even if someone leaves us, good or bad, we should pick ourselves up and get over it coz it shouldnt control our lives. Its easier said den done...coz we all go through it perhaps once before...

True Love Kiss

I think watching enchanted was a nice way to end the exams :p well, if you were watching with 3 guys, we were mostly laughing at all the fairy tale cliches hehe but i did enjoy the fairytale vs reality plot. I mean we all want some form of fairy tale in our lives...to be blown away by a 'princess in cutesie dresses' or being swept off your feet by a 'charming prince' (mind u...he shdnt be so shallow and so full of himself haha) but then ure given a reality check that in life, there are so many complications and it is hard not to NO. Coz uve become so accustomed that most things dont work out...and maybe, dats juz the reality of it all.

And i watched happy hour again hahaha its such a crappy show with all the relationship cliches...i tink the best line dis week is dat wen a girl hangs around with a group of guys for too long, the guys tend to treat her as a guy. and the same for a guy who hangs ard too long with girls...he den becomes juz a nice 'gal fren' to talk too....

And exams are over :)

AMK Reunion

OK i dun tink shd call it reunion...since we keep meeting every couple of months haha well...its always a small group of us. Just 7 from a possible 14 of the AMKSS peeps. I do have to applaud the girls for making time for this and organizing these short short after work outings :) well its always a lepak session ie. dinner and den some desserts and for some reason....everytime we meet..its gotta be a new update from someone we know OR just reminiscing the secondary school days...which i WAS kental...still abit now :p

We all have taken different paths in life despite coming from the same secondary school and most of us from the same class. You know, when i learn in soci of youth, that home follows u to pri sch which follows u to sec sch and then follows u through life...i guess we still need to take into account variation. 3 went to JC and then to university. the rest all went to poly of which 1 managed to get into uni. most of them are working (advertising, event managers, marketing companies, one teacher, air steward and stewardesses, signed on to the army). Its like woah! wads going on! haha and maybe...such short outings..although i get lost most of the time coz dey have more things in common with each other, i guess i appreciate the fact that effort is put in to ensure we keep in contact, keep updated on whose attached or not and working life. Like it or not....we are all connected in some way or another (some friend is a fren of another fren kind of stuff)...its scary hehe

Truth of the matter, as we grow older, we meet new circles of friends, we leave the ones we forged behind. I hope, even as my schedule gets busier by the year, these meet ups will never let up... :)
